Yolano Camp-O-Ree

2021 Camp-O-Ree

April 24th, 2021 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

GEC Shooting Sports Release Form

Your Troop or Crew is invited to join in the Spring Camporee for the Yolano District. Because of restrictions due to the Covid-19 virus, the camporee will be held one day only from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday April 24, 2021 at the Timm Family Ranch. For the scouts that are currently meeting in their Cohorts (patrols) these Covid-19 precautions will be very familiar. These include, but not limited to, face masks, social distancing, and hand sanitizer. Details of COVID precautions will be outlined in the Camporee guide booklet that will be available on line at a date closer to be event. Scouters are encouraged to study up on the “Social Distancing Merit Badge” in preparation for the Camporee.

This year the Camporee will share the Timm Family Ranch facility and a few of the activities with the “Golden Empire Council Venturing Encampment.” As a sort of relief from the recent lockdowns the theme for the Camporee will be “Hunting for Adventure” while the Ventures theme will be “Jumanji.” Scouts are encouraged to wear Jungle themed hats during the daily activities.

We’ll have the traditional events of the opening flags ceremony, patrol competitions, O.A. Cooking Contest, O.A. Callout Ceremony, awards ceremony, and patrol skits presentations. The Scout competitions will include Fire Building, Tomahawk Throw, Lashing skills, Log Lifting, Semaphore, and a map and compass course.
There will be no food preparation on site (except for the O.A. cooking contest). All staff and scouters will be required to bring with them a “sack lunch” with enough food to get them through the day. Also, this is a dry camp so bring plenty of water.

The cost for all this will be $10.00 for Scouts, Leaders and Camporee Staff members. Registration will be up soon so check the Yolano District Web page for updates.

The Camporee location is 7975 Timm Road, Vacaville, CA. This 3100-acre ranch is located about six miles south of Winters at the western end of Allendale Road off Highway 505
