 Camp Lassen in Butte Meadows

Enjoy an all-inclusive weekend of shooting sports fun!

This event is for registered Venturers, Sea Scouts,  Scouts BSA youth, and Scouting adults/parents/guardians.

Before you register your unit/individual you will need to know the scout's shirt size, (Sizes available-Adult SM, Med, Lg, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL), if they have a signed white GEC Shooting Sports card, parents phone # & email address, and onsite leader information if scout is attending without a parent, district name, unit type and #, and food allergies.   

 Ranges include:

* Shotguns * .22 Rifle * Archery * 3D Archery *  Black Powder Rifles & Pistols * Air Soft (rifle, pistol, shotgun) * Air Pellet Guns * Pistols (for Venturers), Chalk Ball, and much more!  

$100.00 per person

Staff and Instructors have a discounted fee for registration.

We need people to cook, help out on Thursday afternoon and Friday setup. We are all volunteers that make this a fun and safe event.  

Price includes; Friday night cracker barrel, Saturday meals, Saturday night cracker barrel, Sunday breakfast, T-shirt, patch, camping, prizes, great food and lots of fun!

If you attended before you know the food, prizes, and event was great! 

All participants must have a GEC 30-Minute Shooting Certification Card to do the archery, shotgun, and

rifle ranges.  Adults and Venturers will need to add training for pistols. 

The 30-minute training for all disciplines will be offered on multiple dates -see information at bottom of this page. 

The 30-minute trainings can be offered by a certified NRA rifle, shotgun and pistol instructor, and Archery Level One Coach (or higher), and we can send them the materials to do the trainings. Email dennis.weiss@gec-bsa.org  for more information. 

All equipment will be provided. No personal equipment allowed.

No siblings or Cub Scouts allowed at this event.

Our shooting programs are valuable resources for helping young people develop self-confidence, personal discipline, responsibility, teamwork, self-esteem, and sportsmanship. The discipline and self-control required for responsible firearms use carry over into many other aspects of life.

All minor youth must turn in a signed form even if their parent is onsite/range Parental Permission Form for GEC Shooting Sports 

No  parental form signed, no shooting at event. No exceptions due to CA law. 

Medical Form AB for all participants, instructors and staff   Medical form AB  Part C is not necessary.

As of now, no covid-19 form will be required unless things change and you will be contacted. 

Camp site, arrival information and other details will be mailed to you two weeks before the event. Plan on bringing your tent. 

Registration will max at 300 people and registration will end. You can be put on a waiting list by emailing diane.weiss@gec-bsa.org. Last year we had 30 people on the wait list. 

All participants must have training before participating on the rifle, shotgun, pistol for adults and Venturer's, and archery ranges. GEC requires each person to attend a 30-minute briefing for each of these disciplines.

If you already have your white card completed for each of the disciplines, bring it with you for the instructors to see at their ranges. You  will need a hard copy of your card to show the instructors. (what if your phone goes dead when you arrive at a range?)  If you lost your card, but have a picture of it,  Mrs. Weiss will give you a new card on Friday night at check-in.  If you don't have a picture of your old card you must take the class again. 

If your scout has their archery, rifle, or shotgun merit badges then they don’t need to attend the 30 minute training in the disciplines they have earned their merit badge in.  Just bring their blue cards/proof of completion with them on Friday September 9 at check-in and we will sign off a white training card for them at check-in. 

If you don't have all  three/four disciplines (i.e. archery, shotgun, rifle, and pistol for Venture Scouts) signed off on your white card (bring it with you to the training classes offered). You will need to attend the entire class, as we can’t tell you what time a specific discipline will be taught during the class (except the pistol will be taught last, so those who can’t take the pistol class will be able to leave) The review will be good for you. 

Watch your emails and council website for dates to be arranged for the 30-minute trainings in July and August.
